I was approached by the brothers of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia to create a poster for an inaugural music festival. The festival was to be named after Christopher Patterson, a brother who lost his life serving in the military. I wanted to create a poster that felt strong, and powerful. I was lucky to have the color red to work with, a color of Phi Mu Alpha, to present simple imagery with a massive pop of color. I wanted to work with a simple silhouette with two colors to keep the work easy to digest, yet effectively be powerful and forward. The angled microphone and text work well of moving across the image. The art feels iconic, simple, yet effective, and I am honored that this work was the image of a new event that has such a powerful message to spread. Music is there for us, and art is there for us, to carry on the ones we love, and we use it to honor them, and remember them.
