Inspired by artist Marlene Dumas, this piece was created using ink and water. It expresses the trance-like state of “being in the zone.” Some people experience this while doing a sport or while playing an instrument; others get this feeling when making art for a long, uninterrupted, period of time. One can lose sense of ones’ surroundings and get completely lost in the act of doing what they’re doing. This piece was created during one of those moments: after a long night of painting it was suddenly 1:30 AM, but one more idea had to be tried out. This led to the creation of this piece: in the middle of the night, in a dream-like state this painting was created. Thus, a “Daydream in the Night.”
